Long Black Veil

Listening to Dave Matthews is pretty much an every day occasion for me. So surprises in his music come very few and far between. i can pretty much play every air-instrument to everyone of his songs. but a few years ago, i got all of his live stuff up until that time (i think he has subsequently released a ridiculous amount of live albums) and branched out to his live-only sets, which usually are covers. my favorite cover is entitled "long black veil" which is an old country song which has since been covered by pretty much everyone (see wikipedia). anyway, here are some designs i have been playing around with for the different characters of the story. the woman needs a LOT of work. the emotion just isn't right, but spot on with the source i used.

and here are the lyrics to the song:

Ten years ago on a cold dark night
Someone was killed beneath the townhall light
There were few at the scene, but they all agreed
That the slayer who ran looked a lot like me
She walks these hills in a long black veil
She visits my grave when the night winds wail
Nobody knows, nobody sees, nobody knows but me

The judge said son, what is your alibi?
If you were somewhere else, then you wont have to die.
I said not a word, though it meant my life,
For Id been in the arms of my best friends wife.
Oh, she walks these hills in a long black veil.
She visits my grave when the night winds wail.
Nobody knows, nobody sees, nobody knows but me.

Oh, now the scaffold is high, eternity is near
She stood in the crowd and shed not a tear
And sometimes at night when the cold winds blow
In a long black veil she cries over my bones.
She walks these hills in a long black veil
She visits my grave when the night winds wail
Nobody knows, nobody sees, nobody knows but me.

Oh, she walks these hills in a long black veil
She visits my grave when the night winds wail
Nobody knows, nobody sees, nobody knows but me.

Nobody knows. nobody knows, but me.
Nobody knows but me.

Orphan Works Act

No new work yet, but thought i should post about the Orphan Works Act. This piece of legislation is ridiculous. It takes away the copyright laws of artists and will make us register each and every piece of art we make through private companies. It is absurd. I have found this link (http://capwiz.com/illustratorspartnership/home/) which will send a template message to your respective congressman and senators. There you can also individualize your statement. Please take a moment and oppose this act.

Strangest Thing

This is the result of my wife going to sleep before me. I lied awake last night for 2 hours before i fell asleep and had crazy dreams about being infected with "rage" from 28 days later, but for some reason it acted slower in me than most, so i was with my wife and my brother and his wife for my few remaining human hours and then coughed. seeing it as a sign, i was left alone to wander the vacated BYU campus until i found someone, whom i asked to take my life... so hopefully i can forgo the staring at the ceiling session and get right into the good stuff. anyway...

Environments for the project

As stated in the title, these are the environments for my little story. the story is about robots who endlessly mine for oil until one of the robots finds a new place, where the aura of the place replaces the need for oil. but as too many come over, the source begins to run out.... yes, it there are some social/political undertones, but most stories have them. maybe not as blatantly obvious as this one, but they exist.
